With an ever increasing focus on natural products, from food, to cleaning products to skin care, these days people are focusing more on the natural alternatives available to them and this is even more prominent with parents wanting the very best toxin free products for their children.
This week bubs about town partner Angie, an avid natural product user brings us her choice in insect repellants.
As a mother I am more conscientious than ever about what I put onto my toddlers skin. I always seem to be looking for a natural alternative when faced with products loaded with chemicals and because insect repellent is an ‘essential’ when outdoors, I went in search of a natural insect repellent and found Melaleuca, also know as Australian Tea Tree and the fabulous thing is that it grows right here in our native country.
Melaleuca, or Australian tea tree oil as it is more commonly known, is a native Australian plant with many remarkable properties. When crushed and distilled, the leaves of this plant yield 100% natural oil which acts as an antiseptic, an insect repellent, a fungicide, a mild solvent and so much more.
I purchased a product called ‘MOOV Insect Repellent’ and found that it has a really pleasant refreshing citrus smell that does not linger. It provides us all with effective protection from irritating insects, without irritating us or our little girl as she has a mild common eczema compliant that tends to flare up when faced with more conventional products.
This highly effective plant-oil-based formulation, is simple to apply to the whole body and is specifically formulated with a blend of natural effective plant oils which are moisturising not drying, irritancy tested, proven effective with 5.0% Melaleuca oil.
The repellent is formulated with the natural active melaleuca oil and has been proven to repel mosquitoes, flies and sand flies for 3 hours; it is DEET-free and contains no synthetic pesticides making it suitable for even the most sensitive skin although.? Another fantastic thing about this Insect Repellent is that there is no need to buy a separate one for the adults and children as it is suitable for use on the entire family. However, it is not recommended for use on infants under 12 months unless advised by a Doctor. Moov is available from selected Pharmacies at a reasonable price and comes in the form a Spray, Gel or roll on.??
So there is no need to avoid walks at dusk or a picnic by the lake when you have such an effective, natural and Australian based product at your fingertips.
