Your local child and family health centre is a fabulous place to acquaint yourself with once you become a parent.
Each clinic is within a cluster of surrounding clinics and within each cluster one centre will run parent groups. We would highly recommend contacting your local clinic to find out what groups are available to you and when they
will be running.

Remember not only are these groups a fabulous resource for information but they are also an excellent social opportunity to meet people in exactly the same stage of life as you and to start creating your own parent groups for ongoing support. The types of groups available are: Joey’s: From birth to 10-12 weeks, this group has a parent lead structure with a family nurse facilitator, it is a wonderful time to ask questions and learn from other mums and dads. Parent Group: Runs with similar ages as above but is more structured with educational information and access to experts. 4 – 6 months: When your child is within this age bracket exciting developments are starting. This structured group is a way to find out what happens next in your child’s development and how to prepare for this. These classes usually run once a week for four weeks and access to experts are a fantastic part of this group.
