Christmas Day Croissants

This recipe is full of flavour perfect for adults and adventurous children, a Christmas tradition in the Evans house served with Champagne and strawberries dipped in chocolate, yum!

Ingredients:
4 croissants
2 tablespoons of mayonnaise
2 tablespoons of sour cream
1/2 teaspoon french mustard
2 bacon rashes chopped
2 shallots chopped
60 grams of mushrooms chopped
 

Preheat oven to 180 degrees celsius.  Combine mayonnaise, sour cream and mustard, cook bacon until crisp, spread mayonnaise mixture over 1/2 of each croissant.  Sprinkle with bacon and shallots, top with mushrooms then other half of croissants.  Bake uncovered for 10 minutes.

 

Christmas Breakfast - Chocolate Croissants

These easy to prepare croissants are a yummy treat for children during the festive period, great served warm with fresh fruit at breakfast or morning tea.

Preparation Time 10 minutes

Cooking Time 25 minutes

Makes 8

Ingredients
2 sheets (25 x 25cm) frozen ready-rolled butter puff pastry, just thawed
160g (1/2 cup) chocolate hazelnut spread
1 egg, lightly whisked

Method
Preheat oven to 190°C. Line a baking tray with non-stick baking paper. Cut each pastry sheet into 4 squares. Spread the chocolate hazelnut spread over each square, leaving a 1cm-wide border. Brush the edges with egg.
Fold over 1 corner of 1 pastry square. Roll up diagonally to form a log. Shape into a crescent. Place on the lined tray. Repeat with remaining pastry squares.
Brush with egg and bake for 20-25 minutes or until the pastry is cooked, puffed and golden. Serve warm.
