Hudson Park,Entrances off Terence Street,Lexington Parade & Cynthia Street,Kotara 

Set right behind Kotara Westfield this small playground has many fantastic features such as a flying fox, ladders, swing bridge, slide, several metal ladders as well as a rope ladder and all set in a large grassed area and right next to the Westfield carpark.  A great place for kids to work off that excess energy before hitting the shops!


Newcastle Foreshore Park - Wharf Road, Newcastle

Walking distance from Nobby's Beach and kiosk, Custom's House and Newcastle Central Train Station this playground set in a huge grassed area is small but offers plenty of challenges for children of all ages.  A stone's throw from the large covered area and an off street car park this playground features a wheelchair swing as well as a double swing set.  In addition to this there are two rocking activities and a metal climbing frame featuring a climbing wall, ladders and ropes.


Lambton Park - Corner of Morehead & Elder Streets, Lambton

Set close to the tennis courts, public toilets, shops and cafes at Lambton this fantastic location features a large grass area with a rotunda that is available for hire as well as a playground that contains numerous picnic tables (one under cover), two barbeque's, a swing set, merry go round, a sand and water play area and a large rope climbing frame with a slide and a play house/shop area this playground has enough to keep children of all ages active and occupied and all in the shade of some fantastic large trees perfect to hide under on those hot summer days.
 

Kotara Park - Park Avenue, Kotara

Located on the busy Park Avenue this small playground is right in front of the Kotara train station and just down from the Kotara Park Tennis Club and has off street parking.  Featuring a large covered table area perfect for parties and picnics and a double swing set and rocking horse, this playground also has a large slide/activity centre with both steps for younger children and a climbing wall for older kids. Not the biggest or most interactive park on our page but a very popular location.

Black Duck Picnic Area, Blackbutt - entrance via Carnley Avenue, Kotara

This family friendly location boasts a range of captive native wildlife exhibits including koalas, wombats, kangaroos, wallabies, emus and native birds. Two children’s playgrounds, a duck pond (featuring eels), numerous barbeque shelters which can be booked for parties and an information centre.


Facilities include, toilets, playgrounds, three barbecue shelters, picnic tables, electric and wood fired barbecues, captive wildlife exhibits, information centre, duck pond and walks. Black Duck Picnic Area now has a parking charge of $4.00 for the day, this is a flat fee not dependant on how long you will be staying in the reserve.  Emu food can be purchased from the information centre for 50c for those that dare feed the Emu's and there are currently two baby koala's in the koala enclosure.


Speers Point Park - Park Road, Speers Point

Located on Park Road, this playground area has electricity and an enclosed shed with power available for hire. The park is aimed at four to eight year olds and offers a fantastic range of interactive attractions, including climbing nets to clanging chimes, boardwalks, slides, swings, ramps and also offers great access for children with disabilities. Speers Point Park also has an open shelter and stage areas, BBQs, and lighting. This park is available for hire and is opposite the public pool and playing fields. A leash free dog exercise area is also within the park.  
 

Dixon Park - Ocean Street, Merewether

Just off Bar Beach is the newly refurbed Dixon Park.  All set within a safe bark ground there is equipment for all ages.  With a slide featuring numerous bar ladders, a climbing wall and attached monkey bar for all that fantastic swinging children love to do.  Three swings, different sized stepping stones a spin and stand, basic see saw, ladybird xylophone and flower speaker there is so much to do here and all surrounded by plenty of open space to kick a ball around.  There is one covered picnic table next to the playground and a larger cola about 20 metres towards the beach. A must visit.
 

Centennial Park - Dawson Street, Cooks Hill

Set just behind Darby Street and next to the bowling club this huge area features gardens, a playground lined with lovely shady trees, a large grass area for ball games and a big covered pergola.  The playground itself has a seesaw big enough to fit three small children on each side as well as two swings, a couple of rocking toys, monkey bars, flying fox, climbing ropes, two slides including a tunnel slide and all set within a bark ground to ease those bruised knees.  We have spent many a fun time with our mother's group at this park and although it's not shiny and new its a great space to enjoy with friends.


Richley Reserve - entrance via Freyberg Street, New Lambton, Richley Reserve is part of Blackbutt Reserve, Mahogany Drive, New Lambton

This area is full of history, an active mine site for over 30 years the area has now been restored to a beautiful peaceful picnic and walking area. With large grassed flats, barbeques and picnic tables this is the ideal location for any family function. Facilities include, toilets, (older childrens playground), two barbecue shelters (one wheelchair accessible), electric and wood fired barbecues and two duck ponds habitat to fish, turtles, eels and many ducks, just watch out for the territoral Black Swans when feeding the ducks!

 
 

King Edward Park Cooks Hill - Ordnance Street, The Hill.

Relax in glorious King Edward Park and take in the spectacular coastal views. This is a great park for picnics and family outings; there is a small playground, public toilets, electric BBQs and steep walks that are sure to give those mums with bubs in strollers a great workout!
 

Murray's Beach 
 

Murrays Beach playground is in an idyllic spot, nestled amongst trees and overlooking the lake, this playground was a hit last weekend when we attended a naming day ceremony by the lake. A 20 minute drive from Charlestown is well worth it when you get kookaburras flying right up next to the covered BBQ area and a fabulous café a short walk away. The playground itself has the usual swings, ropes, slides and so much more all with a sandy floor to prevent any nasty bumps and grazes. Stay tuned for more information about your local parks!
 

Croudace Bay Park (Thomas H Halton Park)

Croudace Bay Park is located on Macquarie Drive at Croudace Bay. Located on the lake foreshore, this park offers a boat ramp, shelter, BBQ area, playground, skate park, toilets, wetlands, plus a pedestrian/cycleway. This park also offers leashed and leash free dog exercise areas.
